Perhaps Someday
By Barbara Goldstein

KILL IN THE NAME OF BIGOTRY!
KILL IN THE NAME OF HATE!

STOP! in THE NAME OF HUMANITY.
STOP          BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

Reject one who's not like me!
Catch 'em! CATCH 'EM! Don't let him free!!!

Will it ever end? Will we ever let live?????
WILL WE EVER LOVE????  WILL WE EVER FORGIVE??

WILL IT EVER CEASE????????
WILL WE EVER HAVE PEACE??????????

Nonagenarians
By Dianae Bauman

“I’m still here”
Is her cry
In reply
To the fear
Of the Reaper’s call
As we all
AGE!

Age well
We’re told
Like a scold
To comply
We must try
Diet and exercise
Engage and socialize

Ninety-plus
Life’s bonus
Uncertainty’s the game
Days aren’t the same
Doctor’s appointments
Magic ointments
We kvetch we cheer
To remaining peers

Hey look at each of us
Stereotyping’s ridiculous
Some are frail
Some are hale
Some delight
Some ain’t right
Some hide from catastrophes
That overwhelm our history

Why can’t old age
Be another stage
Of opportunity
For humane unity
How great to be
Leaving a legacy
Of activist hope
By daring to  cope

Dangers of Distraction
By Sunshine Lutey

Annoyance, Frustration

Where are my car keys,
My glasses, my phone?
Where is the paper I set down
to answer the phone?

Aggravation, Struggling

Water everywhere, left the faucet running.
Forgotten dinner, burned to a crisp.
Searching, searching, where is the car?
Performing, lost my place, where was I?

Critically Dangerous

On the ground! How could I have fallen?
Driving, how did I forget my seatbelt?
How did I miss that stop sign?
Honk, honk!
How did my car cross that lane?

Suggestions to Avoid Distractions

Keep focus laser sharp
on even mundane tasks.
When interruptions necessary,
stop! Mark your place.

Even more important!
Stay close while faucets run.
Stay near while cooking food.
When parking, mark location.

When walking, pick up feet, focus forward.
In the car, first fasten the seat belt,
then, turn off the phone.
With mind uncluttered – so much safer.
